Kisses

Princess Sophie gave her mama two kisses tonight, one on each cheek. I almost passed out. We were eating with our friends the Brannons and Sophie was being silly and I leaned over and made kissing sounds and said give me a kiss. She took my face in her hands and kissed one cheek and turned my head for the other cheek. This was the most precious moment of my life with her. Now before you all get too excited she was back frustrated with me before we left the restaurant and only wanted Greyson our 11- year- old friend from NC. We brought her back to the room and I ran some bath water. Me, Ricky, Justin and Greyson put Sophie in the tub. She stood up the whole time screaming but she got a bath. No hair washing just a very quick bath. I feel so much better but I want to get her hair washed so bad. Each day brings new changes with our princess. She still shuts down very quickly but having more and more fun moments. She is now sound asleep and tomorrow we celebrate one week as a family.

WOW! Your first kiss from Sophie...what a sweet moment. Parenthood is like that huh? Sweet one minute and stinkers the next. Such is our world but we wouldn't have it any other way! You are making great progress with her. Enjoy. Counting down the days until you come home

I am so happy! Baby steps, my dear. She's getting there! I was so glad to hear that you had Benedryl for the trip home...don't be afraid to use it, either! I can hardly wait to give you a big hug! I may wait a while to give Sophie one...but just to see her will be such a blessing!

Sherrie, I am so sorry about your plane ride; Katie had similar moments - we used lots of little coockies; anything to keep her quiet for a while so people didn't kick us off of the plane! Aren't those little unexpected moments when she kisses you breathtaking, though? And - bam!- she's gone! Those "Bam" moments will get less and less, and the soft moments will increase, I promise! Bath time - Katie screamed bloody murder at the first bath; i don't know if she had ever been in a tub before. The next time, we put her in the tub before turning on the water, and slowly let it trickle over her hands as the tub filled. Hairwashing - more shrieking. Now she lets me lie her down in an empty tub, head by the drain, and I fill a play bucket with warm water and slowly lather her hair and pour a little at a time to rinse. This way she doesn't get any water in her eyes. Do I know if it will work for you? With kids, your guess is as good as mine! It's literally trial and error; what works for one, doesn't necessarily work for others! We just keep trying new things until we hit the jackpot! I hope the medical visit goes well - once in, it doesn't take very long. The waiting is what stinks...Have fun, you ARE doing a terrific job!

Sherrie, Even though it may be difficult these early days, it is a blessing to see that you are beginning to bond. You are in our thoughts and prayers and we look forward to meeting Sophie! Josh is doing well. He mentions you all in prayer in each and is looking forward to you coming home. We are taking care of him! We love you and continue to pray for you. (Philippians 4:4-7) E. Ross

As I am writing this I am hoping the doctor's visit went ok. The kisses sound heavenly and I am sure there are more to come. I am jealous because my own Laura is not a kiss giver. Alot of bargaining and begging has to go on, but Sophie gave them because you were playing around asking for one. More kisses for all of you from Elba. Lots of love too!
