Appointment Updates

We are back from our Birmingham trip. Sophie had a busy two days of doctors. She is going to have surgery Dec 2. We met with Dr. Joseph today and confirmed that the right kidney does not have any function and it is backing up with urine. They catherized her today so they could run die through her bladder and take an xray. They collected 750cc of urine. I was amazed!!! And so was everyone else!! Her right kidney and ureter are extremely large and this is causing her belly to look so large and feel so hard. This is pushing on her bladder and her left kidney causing other problems as well. He said the only way to fix this problem is to remove the kidney. We scheduled the first available appointment. In the meantime, we will be checking on the heart murmur that the doctors at the International Adoption Clinic found. They will not put her to sleep until this is seen about. While at the IAC, they had to stick her in both arms to draw blood because her tiny little veins roll. They took eight different vials of blood. My poor baby!!!! It was a great time of bonding for us though, she allowed me and Ricky to comfort her and that is a very good sign that she is progressing in a positive way. She was ready to see her GeGe though!!!!!

I got your message on my phone. I'm glad you are getting answers and I am glad Sophie is getting relief. I'm happy everyone is home too! I know Sophie will continue to blossom as she gets more and more relief from the doctors. I can hear so much happiness in your voice even in this busy time. I am ready to see you (and everyone else too)

Brave little Sophie will remain in our prayers as you all travel this road to get her body well and working properly. It is wonderful to know she is healing/bonding emotionally as she now has her family by her side! Our prayers will be for good news on the heart issue and for Sophie to thrive in spite of the wait for her December surgery. Also prayers for each of you as you face these hard things with your baby girl who needs you so! God will use these things to bring you all together as a team and grow your hearts in amazing ways.

Good news! I am always so pleased to know what the problem is and know that it can be fixed! And, B'ham is the best place to be! So glad she is bonding more with you. She knows you are helping her. So sorry she had to have all the catheters and sticks, though.
Looking forward to seeing you both soon!

Your Princess is a Brave Little Soldier!
It was heartening to hear that the doctors have pinpointed the problems and have a plan of action. Just think how much better Sophie will feel by her First USA Christmas!
It may be a tough road ahead, but she will get there with the LOVE that has been placed along her side by The ONE who is Love itself.
Sophie and all of you stay in our prayers. Pia
